Sail boat meeting

Special Meeting for Sail Boaters

Minutes of Special Meeting Sept 10, 2013

Renforth Boat Club

Attendance:  Stan, Eric, Daryl, Dudley, Dan, Mike, Paul, Ralph, Bill, Dick, Rick

Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm. Chaired by Stan

Agenda – To discuss efficiencies for haul out

Stan stated Loyalist Towing is no longer interested in doing the haulout. Part of the problem is giving two days to choose from. One haulout date is preferred. Another problem is the time wasted due to boats not being prepared for haulout. A large discussion followed.

Dudley stated that the dates that are available are Oct 6,19,20,26,27. It was decided Oct 6 is the preferred date pending the availability of a crane. Loyalist will be asked if this is acceptable.

Nine boats in total are expected for haulout with 7 being wintered in the yard.

The need to have all boats prepped and ready for haulout with all members on site for the entire time was emphasized.

Dudley brought up the topic of an inspection for the club power trailer. The trailer needs new tires. Mike will check with his suppliers for a price. It was felt that for the short distance from the yard to theRenforth wharf, a full inspection is not a priority.

The Club needs blocking for the cribs. Eric will make some inquiries.

The topic of the washout in the yard last year was brought up. Several cribs were in danger due to the erosion of the railway embankment.  It was felt that two loads of gravel should fill the depression and allow for drainage. Stan will look into this.

A discussion followed concerning the date for hauling out the dinghy docks. The dinghy docks will come out the same day as the sail boat haulout.

A discussion followed concerning the need to keep a clear track to the winch house for snow ploughing and emergency vehicles after sail boats are placed in the yard. Dudley is mindful of the need and will do his best to placate the member’s request.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30pm

Respectfully submitted
