Attention: Commodore and General Membership
Re: Open letter of apology to our Saint John River Boating Friends.
The Executive of the Oromocto Boat club (OBC) has received complaints from visiting boaters this past summer and comments have been received suggesting that OBC is now a closed club, members only being allowed on our dock system unless they were paid overnight guests.
Due to some difficult situations in the past with a few transient boaters, and with an attempt to avoid such difficulties, some policy changes were open to misinterpretation, and caused this year some embarrassment to both our visitors and our own members.
We, members and executive at the Oromocto Boat Club, wish to make a formal apology to your executive and your membership, if they have been in any way been made to feel unwelcome at our facility.
Your members and their families are very welcome to visit us at any time (available space permitting), and we at the OBC wish to extend to each vessel and family in your club membership, one (1) complementary overnight stay during the next boating season, 2012.
It is our hope that we can foster better relationships between our clubs and our members this way.
Would you please inform your membership of this offer from OBC and ask that when they wish to join us they contact our dock attendant on VHF either channel 68 or 28, requesting space, and present their membership card to validate their current membership with your club.
Again, we hope this gesture will foster better relationships between fellow boaters along our beautiful Saint John River System, and to assure your members that they are welcome to visit us at the Oromocto Boat Club.
Sincerely,
Michel Rivard
