Canadian Power and Sail Squadron – Kennebecasis

Last evening I attended the bridge meeting of the CPS for our area. I joined last year after discovering that simply by having a boating card I could become a member. I would recommend that every active boater join this organization. Its chief role is to provide approved training courses in a variety of areas such as.

Basic Boating Card
VHF operating card
Navigation
Weather
and many others.

Many people do not know that if you own a VHF radio you are now required by law to have an operator license. It looks like this is going to be enforced in the near future.

The CPS is the soul provider of these licenses now….. that is a good reason to join. There will be courses offered for the next three months. They happen on a Tuesday evening followed by a Saturday daytime schedule. Check the CPS website for details. Members get a discount.

The magazine “Canadian Yachting” comes with the membership as well and is a great view into the boating world in Canada.

I will be inviting someone from the “Bridge” to come to one of our meetings in the coming months.
